Soulja Boy Apologizes After Being Tricked Into Recording Anti-Semitic Propaganda

Soulja Boy’s been steadily dishing out new music and launching new business ventures. However, he still has a few side-hustles to bring in some extra dough. The rapper set up an account on Cameo, a platform that gives fans the opportunity to pay celebrities for personalized messages for birthdays or other types of special occasions. Unfortunately, the rapper was tricked into recording anti-Semitic propaganda and now, he’s issued an apology for the video.

Soulja Boy was among the several celebrities, including Andy Dick and Brett Fevre, that were tricked into recording a cryptic anti-semitic message on Cameo. The rapper filmed a video in support of the Goyim Defense League — an anti-Jewish group.

“Shoutout to Handsome Truth and Sway at GDL,” Soulja Boy said in a since-deleted video, showing love to the two leading members of the group, Buzzfeed reports. “GDL for life, bitch,” he added before plugging the group’s Soundcloud page.

After being notified on the group, Soulja Boy apologized to anyone he’s offended via The New York Times.

“I was tricked,” Soulja Boy said. “I apologize to anyone I offended. I thought it was just a shoutout for a fan. I didn’t know it had a negative meaning behind it.”

Cameo has since denounced GDL’s requests as “blatant misuse” of their platform and a “gross misrepresentation of the talent’s political beliefs.”
